impacts/policies for local chapters
Welcome June, welcome summer! Joyfully on June 19th, we recognize a new national holiday, Juneteenth, Freedom Day, leading toward July 4th, Independence Day! Also the time to celebrate school graduations is here, culminating this unusual year of virtual study and activity, or non-activity, and virtual almost everything.
With the steady drop in Covid-19 prevalence in NJ, we remain cautious to continue safety recommendations in our social interactions in accordance with local health authorities and observance of the overarching guidance set for P.E.O. We look forward to the amber light to allow in-person interactions soon. In-person chapter meetings and in-person reciprocities are on the horizon, while maintaining the positive benefits realized through virtual connections.
Your Executive Board members are pleased to meet on Zoom with State Projects and Standing Committees, Advisers and Chapter Presidents during the month of June. Continuing through the summer these committees will be planning a smooth transition with continued focus on their duties. Our calendars of chapter activities and cascading goals outlined in our yearbooks are in process.
Your State Board is planning to attend the Virtual LEAD Conference in July and the New Jersey P.E.O. delegation sisters are registering for the Virtual Convention of International Chapter in September. Please see the P.E. O. Record for details. Your Board Buddies will be reaching out to Chapter Presidents in early summer to assess the situation of your chapter and to share adjustments you’ve made with your chapter in the past year.
Please feel free to reach out to us continually for assistance with your concerns.
Wishing you all a good, happy and safe summer,
With Love in P.E.O.,

2021 Convention of International Chapter Announcement
January 6, 2021
Growing up we all had traditions in each of our families; celebrating birthdays, holidays, graduations and an occasional “once in a lifetime” or perhaps yearly family reunion. As families grew, each new member brought their new traditions
into the mix: special meals with all the fixings, reunion themes, favorite games and family discussions.
At times, our memories of the past bring back a longing for what was. As we enter our 152nd year since the founding of P.E.O., our minds take us back to that family reunion of sisters with the organization of Grand Chapter in 1883. Fresh in our minds, we are swept back to September 2019, the Sesquicentennial Celebration and the 74th Convention of International Chapter held in Des Moines, Iowa.
In December, the Executive Board of International Chapter approved by unanimous vote that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic emergency, the 2021 Convention of International Chapter will be held using a virtual format and in a manner pursuant to which the members of convention with voting privileges have the opportunity to see, read or hear the proceedings substantially concurrent with the occurrence of the proceedings, contemporaneously vote on matters, pose questions and make comments.
The biennial theme “Build Your Legacy! Make History” will guide us as we celebrate our amazing Sisterhood together at the 75th Convention of International Chapter.
